October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, but the good news is that early detection saves lives.

✅ Women aged 50-71 are invited for free NHS breast screening (mammograms) every 3 years.

✅ If you notice any changes to your breasts, it’s important to speak to your GP, even if you’ve recently had a screening.

✅ Remember to stay breast aware: know what’s normal for you.

🔍 Signs to look out for:

• A lump or swelling in the breast or armpit.
• Changes in size, shape, or skin texture (dimpling, rash, redness).
• Nipple changes (inversion, discharge, or change in position).
• Ongoing pain in one breast or armpit.

You’ll be invited for breast screening every 3 years, and your GP strongly encourages you to attend.

Already received your invitation or need to rebook? Call the breast screening office today: 01785 230861

This October, let’s spread awareness and encourage loved ones to check, attend, and talk openly about breast health. 💬
