Total Triage

Important update from your GP practice 📣

Dr Harbidge and Partners will be using Total Triage starting from Thursday 18th December 2025 for appointments and accessing practice services.

We want to thank all our patients for the honest feedback you’ve shared with us over recent months. You told us that morning queues, long waits on the telephone, and the “fastest-finger-first” rush for appointments were stressful and unfair – and we completely agree!

We’ve listened and as a result, our practice will be moving to Total Triage for all medical requests.

Here’s what this means for you:

🩺 Every medical request will be triaged by a GP – A GP will review your request and determine the safest and most appropriate clinician for your care. This may be a GP, but depending on your needs, you may be booked with an Advanced Practitioner’s, First Contact Physio, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, or another member of our multidisciplinary team. This ensures you get the right care from the right professional as quickly as possible.

⏱️ Urgent issues – If your condition is urgent, it will be dealt with on the day.

📆 Non-urgent issues – For non-urgent problems, you will receive a text or phone call inviting you to book an appointment within a designated timescale.

💻 A simple online form – A quick and easy form will appear on our practice website. This helps us understand your needs so a GP can decide the safest and most appropriate next step.

👵 Support for elderly and vulnerable patients – We know not everyone can use online forms. Our team will fully support anyone who needs help – especially our elderly, vulnerable, or digitally excluded patients.

🏥 GP appointments are offered based on clinical need – If, after assessing your symptoms, a GP appointment is deemed the most appropriate course of action, we will ensure you are offered one. This approach ensures that everyone receives the right care from the right professional in a timely manner.

This change will help us reduce queues, cut phone wait times, and make sure appointments go to the people who need them most, when they need them.
