This Time to Talk Day, we encourage everyone, including patients, families and our local community to start a conversation about mental health. Talking openly about how we’re feeling helps reduce stigma, build understanding and can truly change lives.
📆 What is Time to Talk Day?
It’s the UK’s biggest nationwide mental health conversation, run by mental health charities like Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op. The aim is simple: get comfortable talking about mental health with others, however big or small the conversation might be.
💬 Why talking matters:
- Open, honest conversations help break down stigma around mental health.
- Talking can make someone feel less alone and more understood.
- You don’t need to be an expert — just being willing to listen is powerful.
💡 Ways to take part:
✔ Check in with a friend, neighbour or colleague and ask how they’re really doing.
✔ Share a supportive message with someone.
✔ Bring mental health into everyday conversations, over a cuppa, on a walk, or in a group chat.
We all have mental health, and sometimes the first step to feeling better is simply talking about it. Let’s use Time to Talk Day to create a kinder, more open community where everyone feels more comfortable speaking up and seeking support when needed.
If you or someone you care about needs support, please reach out, talk to a friend, a family member, or a professional. You are not alone.
Remember, we have two dedicated Mental Health Practitioners within our PCN that you can contact any time:
- Jayne, supporting children and young adults up to 25 years old.
- Emily, supporting adults aged 26–65.
Our mental health practitioners can offer assessments, advice, support, and help signpost patients to further care where needed. Get in touch if you’d like to speak with them, or have an appointment
